Introduction of TISI
TISI, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute, is responsible for revising relevant laws and regulations and has the authority to verify products based on established standards.
TISI's certification standards primarily focus on safety-related items, with 143 types of products related to the safety of people's lives and property are under its control. More information can be found on their official website.

7 added categories of electrical appliances
In an effort to enhance public safety, TISI will be including the following seven types of electrical appliances in the mandatory application process:

Electrical devices for caring for hair, fur, or skin | TIS 60335 Part 2(23)-2564 | July, 2024 | Product voltage under 250 volts New regulations primarily address about overheat and malfunctions. |
Fryers and frying pans with a capacity not exceeding 5 liters | TIS 60335 Part 2 (13)-2564 | July, 2024 | Commercial deep fryers are not included. Control different function of the products such as temperature control, leakage protection, prevention of contact with electrical components and so on. |
Air conditioning. | TIS 2134-2565 | January, 2025 | This standard covers ducted air conditioning systems with a total cooling capacity of less than 8000 watts and an external static pressure of less than 25 Pascals. The regulations specify that the total cooling capacity should be under 18000 watts, and single-phase electrical voltage should not exceed 250 volts, while multi-phase electrical voltage must not exceed 600 volts. |
Cold and hot water dispensers | TIS 2461-25XX | June, 2024 | The related products are required to comply with IEC standards (International Electrotechnical Commission standards). |
Household electrical switches | TIS 824 Part 1-2562 | March, 2024 | The regulation specifies that the voltage should not exceed 440 volts. This includes electronic electrical switches, switch enclosures, indicator lights, remote control switches (RCS), time delay switches (TDS), and other related products. |
Low-voltage switchgear and control gear components - Part 3: Distribution boards | TIS 1436 Part 3-2564 | June, 2024 | The main requirements focus on the durability of materials and components, encompassing aspects such as waterproofing, dust resistance, protection against electric shock, circuit continuity, temperature rise limits, and electromagnetic compatibility. |
Three-phase induction motor | TIS 866 Part 30 (101)-2561 | August, 2025 | Energy efficiency levels are determined in accordance with the IEC standards. |
These new mandatory application standards aim to improve the quality and safety of these products, ensuring the safety of the public during their use.
Manufacturers or importers of the products mentioned above should take note that all related products require TISI certification before being imported into Thailand.
