Brazil's ANATEL has made significant updates to its RF equipment regulations, aligning several technical specifications with international standards.
Brazil's National Telecommunications Authority (ANATEL) recently officially released Law No. 14158, which makes a series of important revisions to the technical specifications and testing procedures for existing radio frequency (RF) equipment. This update aims to promote the integration of Brazilian technical standards with mainstream global practices, covering key areas such as vehicle radar, wireless audio, millimeter-wave communications, and next-generation Wi-Fi. The new regulations will officially take effect on April 6, 2026. During the transition period, existing standards can still be used, but ANATEL recommends that all relevant parties begin product certification and compliance work in accordance with the new regulations as soon as possible.

Major Update to Brazil's Telecom Regulation: Mandatory Certification for Data Centers and Joint Liability for E-commerce Platforms
Brazil's telecommunications regulator, ANATEL, issued new regulations in 2025. Key elements include: for the first time, mandatory certification for data centers; clarifying that e-commerce platforms bear joint liability for the sale of non-compliant products; significantly expanding the scope of non-compliant behaviors (including advertising and display); and strictly restricting the use of refurbished equipment. The new regulations will take effect in phases in August and December 2025.

The new Brazilian test standard for cell phone chargers, Act 5155/2024, entered into force today!
The Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) has issued a new version of the test standard Act 5155/2024 for cell phone chargers, replacing Act 5159/2022. The Act mainly focuses on the testing requirements section. The new act comes into force and becomes mandatory on October 14, 2024, with the old Act 3481/2019 being withdrawn simultaneously.
