Saudi Arabia delays implementation of standardized and unified requirements for mobile phone and electronic device charging ports

Share:

It is reported that Saudi Arabia SASO encountered challenges in implementing the standards SASO IEC 62680-1-2: 2023 and SASO IEC 62680-1-3: 2023. Therefore, the requirement to unify the design of charging ports for mobile phones and electronic devices, which was originally scheduled for January 1, 2025, has been postponed to January 1, 2026.

During the transition period, electronic products imported into Saudi Arabia need to meet and submit the following for charging ports:

1. Accept the test report based on SASO IEC 62368-1: 2020 "Information and communication technology equipment, audio/video - Part 1: Safety requirements".

2. When submitting the technical documents of the product for the SASO self-declaration of conformity, it is promised to unify the charging port and meet the performance requirements specified in SASO IEC 62680-1-2: 2023 and SASO IEC 62680-1-3: 2023.

Starting from January 1, 2025, the above method will have a grace period of 1 year, and the decision will be reviewed when the decision expires to provide test reports according to the above two standards.

Although difficulties have been encountered in the implementation of the regulations, the requirement for unified charging ports still exists. In order for the products to meet the sales needs of the Saudi Arabian market, BTL still reminds you to design the charging port in a unified way to meet the long-term sales needs. BTL will continue to follow up on more news and information about the Saudi Arabian market and provide you with more complete certification support. If necessary, please contact BTL Business Department or International Department for consultation. Thank you~
