CRA Implementation Enters a Critical Phase
In August 2026, preparations for the implementation of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) entered a critical stage. EU Releases Exemption Guidelines on Removability and Replaceability of Portable and LMT Batteries — Multiple Product Categories Relief Granted
On July 14, 2026, the European Commission published the "Commission Guidelines to Facilitate the Harmonised Application of Provisions on the Removability and Replaceability of Portable and Light Means of Transport (LMT) Batteries" (Commission Notice C(2026) 5032 final). These guidelines aim to provide a uniform interpretative framework for the implementation of Article 11 of the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, clarifying exemption and derogation scenarios for multiple product categories.
The manufacturer reporting obligations under the EU Cyber Resilience Act will take effect this year
Under the EU Cyber Resilience Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/2847), manufacturers’ vulnerability and incident reporting obligations will apply from 11 September 2026, ahead of the main implementation in 2027. If a product with digital elements sold in the EU has an actively exploited vulnerability or serious security incident, manufacturers must issue an early warning within 24 hours, provide updates within 72 hours, and submit a final report within one month. Non-compliance may result in fines of up to €15 million or 2.5% of global turnover, highlighting the EU’s shift toward continuous post-market cybersecurity responsibility.
Latest Revision of the UK PSTI
On December 4, 2025, the PSTI (Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure – relevant connectable products security requirements regulations) issued its latest revision: within the existing “security requirements” compliance framework, recognition of Japan’s JC-STAR STAR-1 and Singapore’s Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme (CLS) has been added, allowing them, under specified conditions, to serve as alternative “deemed-to-comply” pathways.

Responding to Cybersecurity Threats,Act (EU) 2022/30 came into being
On January 12, 2022, the European Commission officially published Delegated Act (EU) 2022/30.This act lays down new legal requirements for cybersecurity safeguards, which manufacturers will have to take the three-point cybersecurity requirements into account into the design and production of the concerned products. Products related to this act include most wireless devices that can communicate over the Internet, such as smartphones, tablets, routers, cameras, smart watches, smart appliances, toys, and childcare devices. This act, which will give manufacturers a 30-month buffer period, will come into effect on August 1, 2024, as part of the RED certification, which will be enforced.
(EU) 2019/320 requirements will be mandatory from 17 March 2022
The Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/320 activates Article 3.3(g) of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU. Mobile device vendors are required to demonstrate compliance with Galileo satellite, Wi-Fi and AML (Advanced Mobile Location) to facilitate selling devices on the European market from March 17, 2022.
