A Complete Breakdown of Taiwan NCC RF Equipment Type Approval Process

Share:

Want to get your wireless products into Taiwan’s market smoothly?

The National Communications Commission (NCC) type approval for regulated radio frequency (RF) equipment is a mandatory entry requirement. But between the convoluted application steps and tedious document checklist, are you feeling overwhelmed?
Today, we’re breaking down the official process into plain, actionable steps—plus, we’ll share BTL’s on-the-ground experience to help you avoid 90% of approval pitfalls!

What Is NCC Type Approval?
Put simply: Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) requires all RF/wireless devices entering its market (that fall under regulatory scope) to obtain type approval. This certifies your product meets local standards for electromagnetic compatibility, RF performance, and more—without this certificate, your product cannot be sold or imported into Taiwan.

Official Process Breakdown: 5 Steps to NCC Approval (Plus Pitfall Tips)
Based on the NCC’s official workflow, the approval process unfolds in 5 key steps:
✅ Step 1: Prepare 9 Core Documents
(Missing 1 Could Derail Your Application!)
Gather these materials before applying (attention to detail here is non-negotiable):
1. NCC Type Approval Application Form (use the template provided by the RCB; ensure the signature date is after the test report’s issue date).
2. Product User Manual (must be in Traditional Chinese or English, and include NCC-mandated warning statements).
3. Product Specification Sheet (clearly list technical parameters).
4. Product Circuit Diagrams & Block Diagrams (clearly mark RF sections, plus the product’s brand and model information).
5. Technical Test Report (issued by a third-party lab—BTL can provide this report).
6. Product Exterior + Key Component Photos (color photos of at least 4×6 inches; capture all 6 sides of the product, and label the antenna).
7. Product Internal Structure + Circuit Board Photos (color photos of at least 4×6 inches; capture at least 2 sides).
8. Applicant Identity Documents (business/personal credentials; if the applicant is a Taiwan-based entity with manufacturing capabilities, additional manufacturing approval documents are required).

9. Other supplementary materials as requested by the NCC Electronic package containing all the above documents.

✅ Step 2: Submit Documents & Pay Inspection Fees
Submit the full document package to the NCC’s verification body; fees will be collected upon document receipt. (Note: BTL can handle fee payment on your behalf—supermarket payments are not accepted.)

✅ Step 3: Initial Document Review & Supplemental Requests
The verification body will first check if documents are complete:
If complete → proceed to the next review stage;
If incomplete → you’ll receive a “supplemental notice.” You must submit missing materials within 1 month—applications will be withdrawn automatically if overdue.

✅ Step 4: Formal Document Review & Reconsideration
Once supplemented, documents move to formal review:
If approved → proceed to the final stage;
If rejected → you’ll receive a “non-compliance notice.” You may apply for reconsideration within 2 months—applications will be withdrawn if reconsideration is unsuccessful.

✅ Step 5: Issue of Type Approval Certificate
After full approval, the NCC will issue the Type Approval Certificate—your product is now legally cleared for Taiwan’s market!

As an officially authorized RCB certification body, BTL has been deeply rooted in the NCC certification sector for years and accumulated extensive project execution experience. For the entire NCC certification process, we provide proactive document pre-review services, which can effectively identify and mitigate certification risks, and significantly shorten the overall project cycle. Meanwhile, leveraging its qualification as a certification body, we have created a one-stop service closed loop covering test plan formulation – compliance review – certificate issuance.

For enterprises applying for the certification for the first time, we offer end-to-end guidance from scratch.

For clients encountering bottlenecks in the process, we can quickly intervene to optimize solutions and efficiently expedite the certification implementation.

Choose BTL, and enjoy worry-free certification!

Overview of EN IEC 61000-4-29:2026

The key focus of the 2026 edition is to address new DC power distribution environments, especially higher-voltage DC systems. It also clarifies test generator capability, duration tolerance, current limitation during short interruptions, inrush current verification, result evaluation, and test report requirements. For products using 24 Vdc, 48 Vdc, 380 Vdc, 400 Vdc, 800 Vdc, or other DC input pow
